Michael Foot

After graduation I worked for the grocery industry for 20 years. I started as a box boy and left Alpha Beta after making it to a District Manager for the produce division. My district went from San Fernando Valley to Santa Barbara. I began to feel that there was more for me out there, so at this time I decided that I should go back to school and get my degree. I was a very poor student at Chaffey High School. I went to Chaffey Junior College and did not do much better. I was determined to make this work for me. I graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills in 1989. I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I received a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. I am also a charter member of the Epsilon Mu chapter of Delta Mu Delta, a National Honor Society in Business Administration.

I went to work for Los Angeles County in the Auditor Controller Office in the Audit Division as an Internal Auditor. I was very disappointed with my career change. I went from everyone's best friend in retail to the devil incarnate as an auditor. After a few years I went to private industry in the audit division, however, my feelings about this career did not change.

My wife and I decided to take a vacation to the Zion Canyon and the Grand Canyon. We first stopped in St. George, Utah. We found an opportunity to open our own business in our short stay in St. George. After the vacation we quit our jobs and moved to Utah. We opened The Sunset Framer, doing custom picture framing. Not something that I ever thought that I would be doing. It has been the best move of our lives. The one thing that we did not realize is that Utah was a Mormon Culture. We adapted, found a start-up Lutheran Church and made our home and life in this beautiful part of the country. I have attached a few photos.

Also, while I was still in California I went on a few TV game shows. That is how I paid for my education. If you go to YOUTUBE and search Catch Phrase, first season, 1st showing, you can have yourself a good laugh. I did do quite well on this show. I did a couple of TV game show pilots, and went on a revised High Rollers game show.

Debbie and I also built a Geodesic Dome in mid state Utah. I have included 2 photos of the finished project. I would be happy to have some classmates come to Utah and visit.
