Christine Kalinoski Harrison

After graduating from UCSB in 1971, I spent another year there earning my California teaching credential. In 1972, Given Harrison, also a teacher, and I were married and I began my teaching career. We lived in Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage, California for 5 years. Needing to escape those months of summer low desert heat, we spent them traveling to places with pine trees and fog or palm trees and warm water beaches. In 1978, we moved to Carlsbad, California where we now live. We have 2 children; our son, Christopher, is a music producer and vocal performer and lives in LA. Our daughter, Katie, lives in Carlsbad and works for Sprouts Marketplace.

After a break from teaching, I returned and taught kindergarten, first, and second grade in the San Marcos School District. Since retiring in 2009 I've been able to enjoy those pursuits I always said I would take on "someday": growing organic vegetables, taking long low tide walks on the beach, reading books on the porch swing, learning to play old time fiddle music, attracting and watching wild birds in the backyard, and exercising regularly (yeah right).

My most recent interest is making mosaic art using stained glass or ceramic tile/broken pottery.
